Explosion Damages Railway Track in Jacobabad

JACOBABAD: An explosion damaged a railway track in Jacobabad on Tuesday, police officials said.

The incident occurred near a waterlogging canal known as Seem Shakh. The blast damaged a section of the railway line.

According to police, the explosion took place late at night. Around two feet of the railway track was damaged in the incident.

SSP Faizan Ali confirmed the damage and said authorities were investigating the incident.

Following the explosion, the Rawalpindi-to-Quetta Jaffar Express was stopped at Jacobabad railway station.

The train will remain halted until officials complete repairs. Authorities are taking security measures around the affected area.

Police reached the site in the morning after receiving information about the explosion. Officials started collecting evidence from the location.

A heavy contingent of police has also been deployed around the damaged railway track. The security presence aims to prevent any further incident.

Meanwhile, railway staff reached the location and started repair work. Workers are attempting to restore the damaged portion as soon as possible.

SSP Faizan Ali said the Jaffar Express would be allowed to continue toward Balochistan after repairs.

He added that the train would not leave before the railway track was fully restored.

A bomb disposal squad also reached the site for further investigation. The team is examining the area and collecting relevant evidence.

Authorities are investigating how the explosive device was placed near the railway line. Further details about the incident are expected after the investigation.
