Karachi – A fashion designer was shot dead by unidentified suspects during a robbery attempt on Monday night, according to police officials.
The victim, identified as Muhammad Salah Shaikh, was 46 years old. He was returning home on a motorcycle after a workout at a gym. The incident took place near China Park within the jurisdiction of Jamshed Quarters Police Station.
Police said two suspects riding a motorcycle approached the victim and attempted to snatch his mobile phone. When Shaikh resisted the robbery, the attackers opened fire. He was critically injured in the shooting.
Witnesses nearby quickly arranged to transport him to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment. However, doctors later confirmed that he had been shot dead due to severe injuries.
Family members said the suspects managed to steal Shaikh’s purse and cash before escaping the scene. They also revealed that he had previously been robbed at the same location only days earlier. According to relatives, he had visited the police station several times to file a complaint about the earlier mobile phone snatching incident.
Shaikh lived near Martin Road Imambargah and worked as a fashion designer. He was the fourth among six siblings. His family said he had no personal disputes or known enemies. They described him as a hardworking and peaceful individual.
Police confirmed that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway. Officers are reviewing available evidence and trying to identify the suspects involved in the attack. Authorities said efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest those responsible for the killing.
The incident has raised concerns about rising street crime in the city. Residents in the area expressed fear after a man was shot dead during a robbery attempt on a busy road.
