Lahore Residents To Enjoy Five Consecutive Holidays From February 4–8

Lahore residents are set to enjoy a five-day holiday beginning Wednesday, February 4, 2026. The break combines Shab-e-Barat, Kashmir Day, and the city’s iconic Basant festival.

The holidays start with Shab-e-Barat on February 4, followed by Kashmir Day, a national holiday, on February 5. The three-day Basant festival will be celebrated from February 6 to 8.

All government offices, autonomous bodies, corporations, local councils, and educational institutions across Lahore and Punjab will remain closed for Shab-e-Barat. Citizens are advised to plan accordingly and enjoy the festive break safely.

The provincial administration has issued strict safety guidelines for Basant celebrations. Authorities emphasized proper crowd management and precautions, especially around kite flying, to avoid accidents and ensure smooth festivities.

During the Basant festival, rooftops, streets, and public spaces are expected to see large crowds. Lahore residents are urged to follow all safety instructions, including avoiding risky areas and supervising children during kite flying events.

Officials have also coordinated with police and emergency services to monitor high-traffic areas and maintain public safety. This is the first combined holiday schedule, linking religious, national, and cultural events in one extended break.

Local businesses, markets, and recreational spots are expected to see a surge in activity as Lahore residents take advantage of the holidays for shopping, family outings, and cultural participation.

Authorities stressed that while the holiday provides an opportunity for celebration, public cooperation is essential. Everyone is advised to follow the guidelines issued by the provincial administration and ensure a safe and enjoyable festival season.

With proper adherence to safety measures, the five-day holiday promises to be a memorable and festive time for Lahore residents, combining religious observances, national pride, and cultural heritage.
