A heartbreaking incident claimed the lives of four children after they became trapped inside a locked car in Punjab’s Mianwali district. The tragic event took place in Isakhel, where the young children reportedly entered a parked vehicle while playing near their homes.
According to police, the incident happened on Sunday night. The children went outside to play in their neighborhood as usual. During their playtime, they entered a neighbor’s parked car. The vehicle’s doors reportedly locked automatically, leaving them trapped inside for several hours.
When the children did not return home, their families became worried and started searching for them. After a search, relatives found the children unconscious inside the parked vehicle. They were taken out of the car, but they had already died due to suffocation.
Police identified the victims as Farishta Bibi, aged seven, Muhammad Hussain, aged five, Habiba, aged four, and Saniba, also aged four. The victims included three girls and one boy.
Authorities said the children were siblings and cousins. They were between four and seven years old. Their families had recently moved to Mianwali from Lakki Marwat in search of work.
The bodies were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital. After completing the required procedures, officials handed the bodies over to their families for burial.
Police officers visited the scene soon after receiving information about the incident. They examined the vehicle, collected evidence, and recorded statements from relevant individuals. Officials also completed the necessary legal formalities as part of the investigation.
According to the initial police investigation, the incident appears to have been accidental. Police said there was no immediate evidence suggesting foul play. The families also submitted a written statement saying they did not wish to take legal action against anyone. They described the deaths as a tragic accident.
Officials further stated that no formal complaint was registered. The families also refused to allow a post-mortem examination. Despite this, police said they would continue investigating the incident under the law to ensure that all aspects of the case are properly reviewed.
