PM Laptop Scheme Phase 4 Launched At NED University, Karachi

The Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training presided over a ceremony at NED University for the fourth phase of the PM Laptop Scheme. During the event, Dr. Fahad Shafiq, Coordinator of the PM Youth Program, announced that 32 graduates received laptops in the initial distribution of this phase. He described the studentsโ€™ excitement as โ€œworth watching.โ€

The ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including PML-N Senators Nehal Hashmi and Wali Uddin Chishti, alongside Dr. Fahad Shafiq. Dr. Shafiq said students from eight universities across Sindh will receive laptops under this phase. He confirmed that the distribution process is progressing quickly and highlighted the Prime Ministerโ€™s upcoming visit to Karachi.

The PM Laptop Scheme is a core vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who initially launched the program in 2011 as Chief Minister of Punjab. The initiative aims to provide laptops to students purely on merit, promoting education, technology, and skill development among Pakistanโ€™s youth.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the fourth phase of the Prime Ministerโ€™s Youth Laptop Scheme 2025, reaffirming his governmentโ€™s commitment to youth empowerment. Addressing the ceremony, he said, โ€œToday marks a historic day in Pakistanโ€™s journey of youth empowerment.โ€

The prime minister emphasized that despite challenges like natural disasters, not a single penny was cut from youth development funds. He praised Pakistanโ€™s progress in technology, including policies on artificial intelligence and semiconductor manufacturing, noting it as a sign of the countryโ€™s bright future.

Since 2011, more than 100,000 laptops have been distributed through the PM Laptop Scheme, with an investment of Rs40โ€“50 billion. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the government has allocated Rs500 billion for youth education, skills, and empowerment, calling it โ€œan investment in the nationโ€™s destiny.โ€

The initiative continues to focus on merit-based distribution, encouraging young citizens to contribute to Pakistanโ€™s development in education, technology, and national progress.
