LAHORE: People applying for a Driving License in Lahore can now get medical fitness certificates for free.
The facility is available at 13 government hospitals across the city. Chief Traffic Officer Lahore Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi announced the initiative on Friday.
Authorities have established dedicated medical counters at the selected hospitals. These counters will facilitate applicants who need medical certificates for their license applications.
The new facility aims to make the licensing process easier for citizens. Applicants can visit the designated hospitals to obtain their medical fitness certificates without paying a fee.
The medical counters have been established at several major government hospitals. These include DHQ Mian Mir Hospital and DHQ Mozang.
Other facilities include General Hospital Ghaziabad and Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Sabzazar. Government Hospital Samanabad is also included in the list.
Government General Hospital Qila Gujjar Singh and Government General Hospital Shahdara are also providing the facility.
Additional designated hospitals include Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Bilal Ganj and Government Hospital Sodiwal. Applicants can also visit Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Kahna.
Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Raiwind is another facility included in the program. Government Eye and General Hospital Swami Nagar, Shalimar, is also providing the service.
According to Shirazi, medical fitness certificates are required for specific categories of applicants. These include people applying for commercial driving licenses.
The certificate is also mandatory for applicants who are above 50 years old. Such applicants must complete the medical fitness requirement before proceeding with their licensing process.
The authorities have also planned a digital system for handling the certificates. Under the proposed arrangement, hospitals will upload medical certificates directly to the Health Department’s portal.
This system is expected to make certificate verification easier. It may also help authorities identify and prevent fraudulent medical certificates.
The digital process could reduce the need for applicants to carry physical certificates. It can also allow relevant departments to verify medical information through the official system.
Officials said the initiative is intended to improve convenience for Driving License applicants. It also seeks to strengthen transparency in the medical certification process.
Applicants should visit one of the designated government hospitals to use the free facility. They should also follow the instructions provided by the hospital and traffic authorities.
The medical requirement remains particularly important for commercial license applicants and people over 50. Authorities will use the certificates as part of the licensing process.
