The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) launched a new initiative on Saturday to assist freelancers by allowing VPN registration through mobile numbers. Previously, freelancers needed a static IP address to register VPNs, a requirement that was challenging for many.
Now, individuals without a static IP can use their mobile number to register their VPN and access it through mobile data. This update is seen as a significant step toward supporting the IT industry and enhancing internet security.

A PTA spokesperson explained that the change was made to simplify the registration process, ensuring freelancers can work without technical disruptions.
To register, freelancers can visit the PTA portal at [https://ipregistration.pta.gov.pk], provide their mobile number, and complete the VPN registration.
Since its launch, over 31,000 VPNs have been registered, demonstrating the initiative’s success and high demand. This move is part of PTA’s broader efforts to regulate internet usage, prevent illegal online content, and foster the growth of Pakistan’s IT sector.
