In Sargodha, Punjab, a shocking incident unfolded after a groom drugged was reportedly robbed during a fake marriage. Police confirmed the case is under investigation.
The incident occurred in the Mitha Lak area, where the victim was lured into a sham marriage. According to the groom, the nikkah ceremony was performed, sweets were distributed, and he was given sweets containing drugs. He lost consciousness soon after.
When the groom drugged regained consciousness, he discovered that the bride, her alleged brother, and the matchmaker had vanished. The victim claimed he had spent Rs150,000 on marriage expenses and an extra Rs20,000 for the nikkah ceremony.
Police have registered a case against the bride, her alleged brother Umar Hayat, and the matchmaker Shahida Parveen. Authorities stated that the suspects involved in the scam will be arrested soon.
Local law enforcement is continuing investigations to determine the full extent of the fraud. Officials emphasized that such fake marriages are serious criminal offenses, and victims should report suspicious arrangements immediately.
According to the groom, the scam was meticulously planned. He added that after being groom drugged, he was left completely helpless, highlighting the risks associated with unverified matrimonial arrangements.
Police are appealing to the public to stay alert and verify all marriage proposals through trusted sources. The Sargodha incident serves as a reminder to exercise caution in personal and financial dealings.
