LAHORE: DNA tests of key suspects in the Hina Javed murder case have been completed. The testing was conducted at the Punjab Forensic Science Agency in Lahore.
The DNA samples of Hina Javed’s husband, father-in-law, and domestic worker Zeeshan were collected. The samples were tested as part of the ongoing investigation.
The testing process took place in the presence of Hina’s brother, Fahad Javed. Rawalpindi police also travelled to Lahore for the forensic procedure.
After completing the process, the police team returned to Rawalpindi. Investigators are now awaiting the forensic findings from the laboratory.
During the investigation, domestic worker Zeeshan reportedly confessed to killing the woman. He allegedly told investigators that Hina’s husband offered him Rs100,000 for the murder.
However, prime suspect Faisal Asghar has denied the allegations. His father has also rejected claims linking them to the alleged murder.
The case has attracted attention following serious findings in Hina Javed’s post-mortem report. The report revealed several injuries on her body.
According to the report, Hina Javed suffered a fracture to her neck bone. Injuries were also found on her ribs and hip bone.
Blood was also reportedly found around her heart. The post-mortem examination was conducted by Dr Maria Khalid.
The examination took place around 12 hours after Hina’s death. Her DNA samples were also collected during the procedure.
The initial post-mortem report could not establish the exact cause of death. Several samples were therefore sent to a forensic laboratory.
According to the report, Hina Javed was allegedly hanged by her husband. However, authorities will determine the final cause after receiving forensic results.
Police said Lady Constable Rafia Tabassum received the forensic samples collected during the post-mortem.
A murder case has been registered at Civil Lines Police Station. The case was filed on the complaint of Hina’s brother, Fahad Javed.
Police have arrested Hina Javed’s husband and domestic worker Zeeshan. Both suspects were presented before the court during the investigation.
The suspects were remanded in police custody for three days. Police are continuing their investigation into the case.
The latest DNA testing is expected to provide further evidence. Investigators will compare the results with the available forensic material.
