The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday issued a notice to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in response to the bail plea filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in the Toshakhana II case. Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb presided over the case and requested the FIA’s response, while adjourning the hearing without specifying a new date. The court’s registrar office will schedule the next hearing.
This development comes after the Special Judge Central recently denied bail to Imran Khan, although the same court had granted bail to his wife, Bushra Bibi, in the Toshakhana II case. Last Friday, the IHC addressed and removed objections previously raised against Imran Khan’s bail application, allowing the hearing to proceed today.

During the court session, Khan’s legal team, including Ayesha Khalid and Shaheena Shahab, highlighted that the bail plea follows a consistent approach to rulings in similar cases. Justice Aurangzeb referenced Bushra Bibi’s bail approval, explaining that she was granted bail due to her gender, while comparable cases involving male defendants had been rejected. The court also addressed a technical concern regarding the date on the power of attorney document, which was signed in July, prior to the case action in November. Khan’s senior lawyer, Shah Khawar, clarified that it is common practice to prepare the necessary documents in advance for clients in custody.
Currently detained in Adiala Jail, Imran Khan is seeking bail until the trial concludes.
