Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has confirmed that PTI founder Imran Khan is in good health following a recent medical examination. The clarification came amid public concern over the former prime minister’s well-being.
According to Tarar, Imran Khan was examined by specialist eye doctors at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on Saturday night. The visit was advised by medical experts who had been monitoring his condition. The procedure conducted was minor and lasted about 20 minutes.
The information minister emphasized that the procedure was performed only after Imran Khan provided written consent. Following the examination, he was safely transferred back to Adiala Jail the same night. Tarar reassured the public that the process went smoothly and without complications.
Earlier, the PTI core committee had demanded transparency regarding Imran Khan’s health. The committee called for a medical examination at Shaukat Khanum Hospital and highlighted the need for clear communication about his condition. They also condemned what they described as deliberate obstruction of meetings between the PTI founder, his family, legal team, and political associates, labeling such restrictions politically motivated.
The PTI core committee further warned that if delays in arranging meetings continue, shutdowns and wheel-jam protests could be announced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other major cities. Committee members were assigned responsibilities to organize these calls on February 8, emphasizing the importance of timely access to Imran Khan.
Minister Tarar’s announcement aims to reassure the public that the PTI founder is healthy and that the medical examination was purely precautionary. Authorities confirmed that all procedures were conducted under strict medical supervision and according to expert recommendations.
