In Bannu IBO, two terrorists were killed: ISPR

According to the military’s media affairs department, two terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based operation in the Janikhel neighbourhood of the Bannu region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday. State broadcaster Radio Pakistan reported this.

The terrorists who were killed “remain actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and innocent citizens,” according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The statement said that “locals of the area appreciated the security forces’ operation and assured [them] of their full support in eliminating the menace of terrorism” after discovering weapons and ammunition in the terrorists’ hands.

Since the banned militant organisation Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan brokered a truce with the government in November, there has been an increase in terrorist activity throughout the nation, particularly in KP and Balochistan.

Six Pakistan Army personnel lost their lives earlier this month in the North Waziristan district of KP’s Dir Duni after a firefight with terrorists.

192 people were killed in 219 terrorist attacks in KP, 206 assaults claimed the lives of 80 people in Balochistan, five attacks claimed the lives of 14 people in Punjab, and six attacks claimed the lives of 7 people in Sindh.

He had claimed that during the previous year, 8,269 intelligence-based operations by the army and law enforcement agencies resulted in the capture of 1,378 suspected terrorists and the arrest of 157 others.

Additionally, according to the DG ISPR, 117 security personnel have been injured and 137 have lost their lives as a result of anti-terror operations this year.
