Commuters are advised that Jahangir Road closed from midnight tonight for urgent development work. The key route connects Teen Hatti to Guru Mandir.
The closure is part of a major reconstruction project, including a new road surface and an upgraded sewerage system. Mayor Murtaza Wahab laid the foundation stone for the project and personally inspected the ongoing work.
Traffic authorities warned that commuters should avoid the area, as congestion is expected. Cars can be diverted via Nishtar Road, PIB Chowrangi, Jail Chowrangi, and Jamshed Road. Heavy trucks are advised to use Dak Khana Chowrangi to reach Nazimabad.
“This project will modernize Jahangir Road and improve city infrastructure. We aim to complete it within 60 days,” Mayor Wahab said. He added that the city would soon see a major transformation in traffic and public facilities.
With Jahangir Road closed, drivers can expect delays, gridlocks, and detours for the next few days. City residents are urged to plan their routes carefully and follow traffic police instructions.
The reconstruction work marks a key initiative by the Karachi municipal administration to improve road safety and sewage systems in high-traffic areas. Local businesses along the route have been informed about temporary access changes.
Authorities have assured that safety barriers, signage, and police personnel will be present throughout the construction period. Residents and commuters are asked to cooperate for smooth progress.
Once completed, the upgraded road will reduce travel time, enhance drainage, and provide a modern commuting experience for thousands of daily users.
Traffic officials emphasized that Jahangir Road closed is necessary for long-term improvements and that temporary inconvenience is unavoidable. Drivers are encouraged to remain patient and use alternative routes during the construction period.
