Karachi is set to experience a new cold wave, with temperatures potentially dropping as low as 6°C. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts a brief rise in temperatures over the next two days, with lows of 13°C and highs of 27°C. However, a weather system entering the country will bring rain to parts of Balochistan, followed by cold winds that could cause temperatures in Karachi to plummet.

The PMD stated that the cold spell could last for a week, but Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz clarified that the city’s historical record low of 0°C, set in January 1934, is unlikely to be broken.
A western wind system is expected to bring rain and thunderstorms from January 1-4, 2025, affecting Quetta, Ziarat, and Chaman. Light rain and thunderstorms are also expected in upper Sindh on January 3-4, with the cold spell likely to persist until January 6.
