Karachi Civil Hospital Ordered to Pay Rs. 6.5 Million Compensation

A Karachi court has ordered Karachi Civil Hospital to pay Rs. 6.5 million in compensation to a woman. The court issued the order after a case involving alleged medical negligence.

The case was filed by Najma Rizwan against Civil Hospital Karachi. It was heard by the Senior Civil Judge South in Karachi.

After completing the proceedings, the court ruled in favor of Rizwan. It directed the hospital to pay Rs. 6.5 million in damages within 60 days.

According to Rizwanโ€™s lawyer, she was admitted to Karachi Civil Hospital on November 3, 2015. She had gone there for surgery related to childbirth.

The woman was discharged from the hospital three days later. She left the facility on November 6, according to the details presented before the court.

However, her health reportedly worsened after she returned home. She developed abdominal pain and swelling after the procedure.

Her condition also involved other medical complications. Her family then decided to seek further treatment at another hospital.

Rizwanโ€™s lawyer told the court that later treatment revealed an alleged surgical error. He claimed that an incorrect surgery had been performed at Civil Hospital.

The lawyer argued that negligence during the procedure caused additional health problems. He also maintained that Rizwan suffered significant consequences following the alleged medical mistake.

The case continued through court proceedings before the Senior Civil Judge South. Both sides presented their arguments during the hearing.

After reviewing the case and hearing the arguments, the court announced its decision. The court found in favor of Rizwan and awarded compensation.

The ruling directed Karachi Civil Hospital to pay Rs. 6.5 million to the woman. The hospital has been given 60 days to make the payment.

The case highlights the legal consequences that can follow allegations of medical negligence. It also shows the role of courts in addressing claims involving patient treatment.

The compensation order follows a complaint related to a procedure performed nearly 11 years ago. The courtโ€™s decision now requires the hospital to comply with the payment order.
