Karachi Commuters Stranded as Protests and Police Blockades Paralyze Traffic

Several political parties, including Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), and others, organized protests in various parts of Karachi on February 8, alleging rigging in the polls. These protests caused significant disruptions to traffic on major city arteries.

One of the main roads affected was Sharae Faisal, where traffic faced severe disruption due to diversions and protests, resulting in long queues of vehicles.

Clashes between law enforcement and political activists also occurred, with police resorting to tear gas to disperse demonstrators.

Additionally, protests took place at the city’s main Toll Plaza, leading to the suspension of traffic on the Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway.

The ongoing protests at Sharae Faisal also impacted flight schedules, causing difficulties for passengers trying to reach the airport.
