In a significant move to alleviate congestion at the central passport office, the government has introduced passport services at two NADRA mega centres in Karachi. The new passport offices will be located at the NADRA Mega Centre 5 Star Chowrangi and the NADRA Mega Centre Siemens Chowrangi (SITE).
This decision follows a visit by Director General Passport, Mustafa Jamal Qazi, to Karachi, where the proposal to integrate passport services with NADRA centres was finalised. The aim is to provide citizens with more accessible options for passport applications and to reduce the overcrowding at the main passport office.

The initiative is part of a larger plan, with passport services soon to be available at around 11 NADRA mega centres across Pakistan, including Karachi. This will streamline services and ensure citizens can access these facilities conveniently.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, during an earlier visit to Karachi’s 24/7 Passport Office at Awami Markaz, expressed satisfaction with the current system. He reassured the public that delays in passport issuance were being addressed and that citizens would now receive their passports within the promised time frame.
Director General Qazi also confirmed that the backlog of pending passports had been cleared nationwide. A record 3.37 million passports were printed since July 1, including 776,451 normal, 1.89 million urgent, and 703,656 fast-track passports. Citizens are now encouraged to collect their passports directly from regional offices without waiting for further notifications.
