KPK Petrol Relief Scheme Faces Criticism After Citizens Receive Rs100 Instead of Rs2,200

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is facing criticism over its motorcycle fuel Relief Scheme after reports emerged that some citizens received far less money than what was originally promised.

The provincial government had earlier announced the “Ehsaas Motorcycle Relief” programme to help motorcycle owners manage rising fuel costs. Under the plan, eligible citizens were expected to receive Rs2,200 in financial assistance.

Officials had allocated Rs3 billion for the Relief Scheme, which was designed to support nearly 1.6 million motorcycle owners across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

However, questions have now been raised regarding the implementation of the programme after one reported beneficiary allegedly received only Rs100 instead of the promised amount.

The issue has triggered public criticism and increased concerns about the management and transparency of the Relief Scheme.

According to official documents, the registration process has also moved slower than expected. So far, only 17,658 people have registered for the programme despite the large number of potential beneficiaries announced earlier.

Out of the registered applicants, authorities have approved around 8,515 individuals for financial assistance under the scheme.

Government officials confirmed that payments have so far been released to more than 5,000 beneficiaries. However, authorities are now investigating the reported case involving the incorrect payment amount.

Officials said verification is underway to determine whether the issue was caused by a technical problem, banking error, or administrative mistake.

The provincial government has not yet provided a detailed explanation regarding how the payment discrepancy occurred.

The situation has led to criticism on social media, where many users questioned the efficiency of the Relief Scheme and demanded greater accountability from officials responsible for the programme.

Economic experts say fuel prices continue to place pressure on low-income families, especially those who rely on motorcycles for daily travel and employment.

Many workers, students, and delivery riders in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa depend heavily on motorcycles due to increasing transportation costs across the country.

Analysts believe that properly managed relief programmes can help reduce financial pressure on citizens during periods of inflation and rising fuel expenses.

However, experts also warn that delays, payment issues, and weak implementation can reduce public trust in government support initiatives.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has stated that the matter remains under review and corrective action may be taken after the investigation is completed.

Officials say the Relief Scheme is still active and payments to approved beneficiaries will continue according to the programme’s process and verification procedures.
