Man Murders Wife and Two Daughters Over Leaving Home Without Burqa

LUCKNOW โ€“ A tragic incident from Kandhla village, Shamli district, western Uttar Pradesh, has shocked the nation. A husband, identified as Farooq, murdered his wife and two young daughters after she resisted going to her parental home without wearing a burqa. Police recovered the bodies and arrested Farooq on 16 December.

Authorities revealed that Farooq had kept his wife, Tahira, confined at home for her entire adult life. She had no contact with neighbors or relatives, and her children had never attended school or religious institutions. Police said the confinement was strictly enforced, with Tahira unable to leave the house freely.

The horrific murder occurred on the night of 9โ€“10 December. Farooq allegedly killed Tahira and his daughters, aged 14โ€“15 and 6โ€“7 years. Investigators stated that he planned the crime carefully, buying illegal weapons and hiring laborers to dig a pit inside the house in advance. When the daughters woke during the attack, they were killed as well, and all three bodies were buried and concealed under concrete flooring.

Police reports suggest that Farooq considered his wifeโ€™s act of leaving the house without a burqa as disobedience. He lured her back from her parentsโ€™ home under false pretenses to carry out the murder. Farooq admitted this motive during the investigation.

The three surviving children, all under 12, were initially deceived into believing their mother and sisters had been sent away. They were given food from a hotel for several days. Eventually, they informed their grandparents, which led to Farooqโ€™s arrest.

Farooqโ€™s mother revealed that Tahira had never been allowed to interact with anyone, and neighbors confirmed she had rarely been seen outside the house. Police also noted that Farooq had never applied for government documentation or schemes for his wife or children.

The surviving children, who had never attended school, expressed a strong desire to study after the tragedy. Authorities emphasized that no one else was involved in the crime.

This horrifying case underscores extreme domestic control and the deadly consequences of enforcing strict restrictions, such as forcing women to wear a burqa, highlighting the urgent need for social awareness and protective measures against domestic oppression.
