Multiple Policemen Arrested for Gun Theft

Several Lahore police officials have been taken into custody following the theft of five government-owned firearms from the Township police station.

As reported by the media, five 9mm Beretta guns belonging to the government were stolen from the Lahore Township police station. In response to the incident, the department took action and pressed charges against 13 police officials in accordance with the directives of DIG Operations Ali Nasir Rizvi.

The individuals against whom a case has been filed include ASI Tariq Aziz, Head Constable Sanaullah, Shehzad Iqbal, Suleman, Shabbir, Arshad, Constable Sajid, Ahsan, Umar, Haris, Raza Anwar, and Muhammad Saeed.

This incident echoes a similar case from January 2015, when the arms storage of the Balochistan Constabulary in Quetta was set on fire, resulting in the theft of firearms worth millions of rupees. Following an inquiry, police arrested six constabulary officers, including the depot in-charge, and filed a First Information Report (FIR).

Furthermore, authorities took into custody 13 arms dealers from various localities who were implicated in the arms theft. The stolen items included over 700,000 rounds of ammunition, numerous Kalashnikov assault rifles, and other weaponry from the depot.
