NAB Karachi Cancels illegal Lease of 435 Acres in Sindh

NAB Karachi Cancels illegal Lease of 435 Acres in Sindh

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi has taken action over an alleged illegal land lease involving 435 acres.

NAB said the land is valued at around Rs2.61 billion. The action was taken against Sajid Haroon, Fawad Anwar and others.

The matter is part of an ongoing inquiry by the anti-corruption watchdog. Investigators are examining allegations surrounding the land lease.

According to NAB, the inquiry focuses on an alleged illegal extension of the 435-acre lease. The suspects are also accused of using forged documents.

NAB alleged that the documents were used to unlawfully convert the land for aquaculture farming. The investigation will examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged conversion.

The anti-corruption body said its continued efforts helped lead to the cancellation of the disputed lease. Cooperation from the Sindh government also supported the action.

The Secretary of Land Utilization for Sindh ordered the cancellation on August 20. The decision formally ended the disputed lease arrangement.

Following the cancellation, the 435 acres were returned to the Sindh governmentโ€™s possession. The move restores the land to government control.

NAB described the development as an outcome of its ongoing efforts against alleged illegal land transactions. The bureau is continuing its investigation into those named in the case.

The landโ€™s reported value of Rs2.61 billion highlights the significance of the case. Authorities are examining whether the alleged irregularities caused financial or administrative losses.

The investigation will also determine how the lease was allegedly extended. Officials are expected to examine the documents involved in the process.

The allegations regarding fake documents remain part of the inquiry. The suspects will face the legal process as the investigation progresses.

The cancellation of the lease means the 435 acres are no longer under the disputed arrangement. The Sindh government has regained possession of the land.

NAB has not indicated that the investigation has concluded. Further action could follow based on evidence collected during the inquiry.

The anti-corruption body said cooperation between federal investigators and the provincial government was important. Their coordination helped facilitate the cancellation process.

The case also highlights concerns over the alleged misuse of government land. Authorities are continuing efforts to identify individuals involved in the alleged irregularities.

The 435 acres will now remain under Sindh government possession following the cancellation. Any further decisions about the land will be taken by the relevant authorities.

NAB said the action forms part of its broader accountability efforts. The ongoing inquiry will determine the full circumstances behind the alleged illegal lease extension.
