The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has clarified an important matter for pensioners across Pakistan. Pension payments will not be stopped if a pensioner did not obtain a proof-of-life certificate in September.

The clarification addresses concerns among retired employees about possible pension suspension. Many pensioners were worried that failing to submit the certificate could affect their monthly payments.

NADRA has been working with relevant institutions to facilitate the issuance of proof-of-life certificates. The certificate helps institutions verify that pension beneficiaries are still alive.

Speaking during a podcast, NADRA Public Information Officer Syed Shabahat Ali explained the government’s position. He said the absence of a proof-of-life certificate would not automatically stop pension payments.

According to the official, the Government of Pakistan has already decided on the matter. Pension payments will not be suspended solely because a pensioner has not obtained the certificate from NADRA.

The decision covers retired employees from several government institutions. It also includes former personnel of the Army and other armed forces.

Retired employees of federal and provincial government departments are also covered under the decision. Their pensions will not be stopped on this basis alone.

The official further clarified that the same policy applies to institutions that have not yet approached NADRA. Such institutions may not have started using NADRA’s proof-of-life certificate services.

Therefore, pensioners associated with those institutions will also not face pension suspension for this reason.

The clarification is expected to provide relief to elderly pensioners. It also aims to remove confusion regarding the proof-of-life certificate requirement.

NADRA has introduced different facilities to make the certificate process easier for pension beneficiaries. These efforts are intended to reduce the need for elderly citizens to visit offices.

The authority has also enabled pensioners to obtain proof-of-life certificates through digital services. This provides an additional option for eligible beneficiaries.

The latest clarification confirms that pension payments will not be stopped automatically. Pensioners who did not receive the certificate in September should not assume their payments will be suspended.

However, pensioners should continue following instructions issued by their respective pension departments. They should also check future requirements related to pension verification.

The NADRA clarification is particularly important for retired employees who were concerned about their monthly income. It confirms that missing the certificate alone will not result in pension suspension.

The government’s decision covers pensioners linked with various federal and provincial departments. It also extends to retired personnel from the armed forces.

Pensioners can therefore remain assured that their payments will not be stopped solely due to the missing proof-of-life certificate.
