ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) chief, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, visited Iraq for official talks with the Iraqi Air Force, strengthening defense ties between the two countries.
Upon arrival at the Iraqi Air Force Headquarters, the PAF chief received a ceremonial welcome with a guard of honour, reflecting the significance of the visit. High-ranking Iraqi officials attended the reception to mark the occasion.
During discussions with Iraqi Air Force Commander Lt Gen Staff Pilot Mohanad Ghalib Mohammed Radi Al-Asadi, the PAF chief emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Iraq’s air capabilities. Both sides agreed to enhance military cooperation, including joint exercises, pilot training, and aviation industry collaboration.
The Iraqi Air Force expressed keen interest in acquiring Pakistan’s JF-17 Thunder fighter jets and Super Mushshak trainer aircraft. The PAF chief noted that Pakistan is ready to provide technical assistance and training for Iraqi pilots to operate the aircraft efficiently.
The visit underscores Pakistan’s growing defense collaboration with Iraq. The PAF chief highlighted the importance of sharing expertise and improving operational readiness to address regional security challenges.
Officials from both air forces discussed future procurement plans, training schedules, and technical support, paving the way for stronger bilateral ties. The PAF chief stated that such cooperation will benefit both nations’ air defense capabilities and promote stability in the region.
This visit follows Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to expand its defense exports and enhance military partnerships globally. By offering JF-17 jets and Super Mushshak aircraft, Pakistan aims to provide advanced yet cost-effective solutions to allied nations.
