Electric Bikes for Postmen
Pakistan Post is also exploring Electric Bikes for its delivery staff. The proposal comes amid financial difficulties faced by the department.
Officials said the department is facing a shortage of funds for fuel. Electric bikes could help reduce fuel expenses and lower delivery costs.
Initial work on the proposal has already started in Punjab. A survey is being conducted to assess postmen’s interest in receiving e-bikes.
The survey is being conducted on the instructions of the postmaster general. It will help determine whether employees are willing to use Electric Bikes for official deliveries.
Under the proposed plan, employees could receive e-bikes through third-party financing. The bikes may be provided through easy instalment plans.
Pakistan Post is also seeking international cooperation for the initiative. The department is approaching the Universal Postal Union for support.
The proposed e-bike plan is part of wider efforts to improve Pakistan Post’s financial position. It also aims to make delivery operations more environmentally friendly.
