Pakistan Reaffirms Commitment to Peace in Gaza and Regional Stability

Pakistan has reiterated its commitment to peace in Palestine and regional stability, emphasizing its support for Gazaโ€™s reconstruction. Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi spoke at the weekly media briefing, highlighting Pakistanโ€™s active role in the Gaza Peace Board alongside seven other Muslim countries.

The spokesperson clarified that Pakistan joined the board sincerely to contribute to peace in Gaza. He rejected claims linking the Gaza Peace Board to the Abraham Accords, stressing that the forum operates independently and has no connection with the accords.

Support for Palestinian Statehood
Andrabi reaffirmed Pakistanโ€™s support for an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. He expressed hope that the Gaza Peace Board framework would be implemented effectively, assisting in the reconstruction and improvement of life in Gaza.

Security Concerns and Terrorism
The Foreign Office also highlighted ongoing security threats. Andrabi stated that terrorists involved in recent attacks in Pakistan were Afghan nationals, contradicting claims by the Afghan Taliban government. He warned that terrorism originating from Afghan territory poses a serious threat to Pakistanโ€™s stability and must be stopped.

Despite these challenges, Pakistan maintains diplomatic channels with Afghanistan. The Pakistani embassy in Kabul and the Afghan embassy in Islamabad remain fully operational. Andrabi confirmed that the Dera Ismail Khan attack, linked to Afghan attackers, has been raised in bilateral and international forums.

Diplomatic and Regional Engagements
The spokesperson announced that the president of Kazakhstan will soon visit Pakistan, with dates to be confirmed. He also welcomed the United Statesโ€™ decision to upgrade its travel advisory for Pakistan, reflecting improved safety for travelers.

Andrabi reiterated that Pakistan remains in contact with international partners, including the European Union, while declining to comment on agreements between India and the UAE.
