China’s advanced and highly capable J-35 stealth fighter jet is set to significantly enhance Pakistan’s air defense capabilities next year, against the backdrop of rising tensions with India. Recent missile exchanges between the two nuclear-armed neighbors culminated in India losing some of its prized Rafale jets, highlighting the critical need for Pakistan to strengthen its aerial defenses.
The J-35, designed for modern aerial combat, boasts reduced radar visibility and exceptional lethality in hostile environments. Equipped with cutting-edge AESA radar and sophisticated sensor systems, the fighter can detect and engage multiple targets at extended ranges.

Facing a growing threat from its neighbor, Pakistan plans to receive these fifth-generation stealth fighters as early as the first quarter of 2026, reflecting Islamabad’s urgency to upgrade its air deterrent capabilities.
International reports indicate that the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) will acquire the J-35 jets, produced by China’s Shenyang Aircraft Corporation. These jets are equipped with stealth technology, powerful twin engines, and advanced avionics, offering enhanced agility, radar evasion, and integrated battlefield awareness.
Pilot training for the J-35 is already underway in China, with Pakistan preparing to integrate the aircraft into its operational fleet next year. This acquisition is viewed as a strategic move to establish superiority in stealth technology.
Experts believe the addition of the J-35 will considerably strengthen Pakistan’s air defense posture, enabling more effective operations in a complex and contested regional security landscape. This development follows recent high-level military talks between Pakistan and China, highlighting the growing defense cooperation between the two countries.
