The government has announced Pakistan to launch first pilot project of an AI-based immigration app in Islamabad from January 2026. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi shared the details during a special meeting on immigration reforms. He said the new system will help authorities assess, in advance, which travelers are eligible to fly and which are not.
Officials believe the initiative will help modernize border control. They also expect the app to reduce delays and ensure smoother travel for passengers. According to the minister, Pakistan to launch first advanced system that uses artificial intelligence to identify potential issues before travelers reach the airport.
During the meeting, Minister Naqvi and Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, reviewed the current immigration procedures. Both ministers agreed to strengthen the process of issuing โProtectorsโ and ensure a foolproof verification mechanism. They also approved strict action against agents involved in fake visa activities.
The government has decided to expand its crackdown on people trying to go abroad with fake documents. Naqvi stated that passports of deported individuals will be canceled so they cannot apply for visas again. He also stressed the need for a uniform international driving license to be issued through the National Police Bureau.
The ministers said the new reforms aim to protect citizens from exploitation. They added that discussions are underway with different countries to improve the global status of Pakistanโs green passport. Efforts are also being made to design a transparent and secure system for issuing Protectors for overseas workers.
Minister Salik Hussain emphasized that every applicant for a labor visa must come with genuine documents. He said the goal of these changes is to improve Pakistanโs image abroad and offer more convenience to travelers.
With Pakistan to launch first AI-based immigration app, the government hopes to build a safer, more efficient, and technology-driven travel system for the future.
