The federal government has announced that passport delivery counters will now operate 24/7 in all cities across Pakistan. This significant initiative aims to enhance passport services and ensure the timely issuance and delivery of passports to citizens.
Director General of Passports, Mustafa Jamal Qazi, stated that citizens can collect their passports at any time from 227 passport offices nationwide. He highlighted that this step reflects the government’s dedication to providing efficient and citizen-friendly services.

“The backlog of passports across the country has been completely cleared,” confirmed the DG Passports. Citizens are encouraged to visit their respective Regional Passport Offices (RPO) to receive their passports.
Directives have been issued to zonal heads of the Directorate of Immigration and Passports to enforce these extended service hours. Additionally, citizens are advised to report any delays in passport issuance to the directorate.
In a related development, the Henley Passport Index 2025 has released its latest rankings of the world’s most and least powerful passports. Singapore has retained its position at the top, with visa-free access to 195 out of 227 destinations globally.
Japan holds second place, offering visa-free travel to 193 destinations. Unfortunately, Pakistan’s ranking remains low, standing at 103rd globally. Pakistani passport holders can travel to only 33 destinations visa-free, ranking below countries such as Bangladesh, Somalia, and Palestine, according to the Henley Passport Index 2025.
