PESHAWAR: The Peshawar district administration has imposed Section 144 across the city to ensure public safety during Ramazan and Eidul Fitr. The orders came into effect on Monday and will remain in force for 30 days.
Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Captain (retd) Sanaullah Khan, said the measures aim to protect lives and property during the festive season. Authorities urged residents to cooperate with officials to maintain peace and order.
The administration warned that violators would face legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Residents are advised to follow the rules strictly to avoid penalties.
Under the Section 144 restrictions, the display and use of weapons or ammunition are banned. Aerial firing and the sale or display of fireworks are also prohibited.
Traffic rules will be strictly enforced. One-wheeling, speeding, and riding motorcycles without helmets are not allowed. Heavy motorcycles with double or loud silencers, as well as sports cars, are restricted.
Boating and amusement park safety are also included. Overloading in boats and unsafe rides at amusement parks are banned. Swimming or bathing in dams and rivers without life jackets is prohibited to prevent accidents.
Authorities emphasized that these steps under Section 144 are precautionary and meant to safeguard citizens during large gatherings in the festive period. Police and municipal teams will monitor compliance throughout the city.
Residents are encouraged to celebrate responsibly and avoid activities that may pose risks to themselves or others. Officials said community cooperation is key to maintaining a safe and peaceful environment.
