PM Shehbaz Sharif Condemns India-Backed Terrorism Amid Kashmir Solidarity Day

MUZAFFARABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday accused India of sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan through proxies, following its defeat in the Ma’araka-e-Haq conflict last year.

Addressing a special session on Kashmir Solidarity Day at the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) legislative assembly, the PM said, “Durable peace in South Asia cannot be achieved until India abandons its expansionist and aggressive designs.”

The premier’s remarks come after attacks by India-backed Fitna al-Hindustan and Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) terrorists across Balochistan over the past weekend. Terrorists struck civilians in Quetta, Mastung, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, Panjgur, Tump, Gwadar, and Pasni on January 31.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that security forces concluded Operation Raddul Fitna 1, eliminating at least 216 terrorists in coordinated engagements. However, 36 civilians, including women and children, and 22 security personnel were martyred during the operations.

PM Shehbaz Sharif expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people, saying, “Pakistan stands unwaveringly with our Kashmiri brothers and sisters. The sacrifices of Kashmiris will never go in vain.” He highlighted the historical resilience of Kashmiris, adding that they value freedom above everything.

Recalling the vision of Pakistan’s founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, PM Shehbaz said, “Kashmir has always been the jugular vein of Pakistan. It has never been, and will never be, a part of India.”

He also praised the decisive victory in the Ma’araka-e-Haq under Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, which, according to the PM, humiliated Indian arrogance and revived the Kashmir cause internationally. The PM acknowledged Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar for promoting Kashmir’s struggle on global platforms.
