Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari conveyed heartfelt New Year greetings to the nation, expressing aspirations for a peaceful, prosperous, and progressive 2025.
In his message, PM Shehbaz prayed for a year filled with happiness and success for Pakistan, urging citizens to start 2025 with renewed determination to build a stable and flourishing future.

Reflecting on 2024, he highlighted key achievements such as improved economic indicators, strengthened international confidence, billion-rupee investment deals, and the launch of the “Udan Pakistan” National Economic Transformation Plan, which aims for inclusive and sustainable growth. He emphasized that Pakistan is on the path to self-reliance, with a bright and prosperous future ahead.
The premier also addressed global and regional challenges, condemning Israeli aggression in Palestine and human rights abuses in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He expressed hope for the success of liberation movements in these regions. Shehbaz paid tribute to Pakistan’s security forces, acknowledging their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and their critical role in safeguarding the country. He called on the nation to honor the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal by uniting to develop and strengthen Pakistan.
President Asif Ali Zardari also extended his New Year wishes to the nation and the world, advocating for peace, stability, and prosperity in 2025.
He emphasized the importance of unity, discipline, and hard work while prioritizing youth empowerment and addressing the struggles of underprivileged communities. Zardari urged the public to reflect on past successes and failures, learn from them, and move forward with resolve, reiterating a commitment to public service, peace, and progress.
Meanwhile, the nation welcomed 2025 with vibrant celebrations across major cities, including Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore. Fireworks lit up the skies as citizens celebrated with enthusiasm. Despite restrictions, reports of aerial firing surfaced from various areas. Popular spots like Karachi’s Bahria Town and Islamabad’s Centaurus Mall drew large crowds, alongside festivities in other cities.
