PTI Moves to Hold Independence Day Rally in Lahore

LAHORE: PTI moves to organize a major public gathering in Lahore for Independence Day celebrations. The party has formally sought official permission for the event.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has approached the Deputy Commissionerโ€™s Office for a No Objection Certificate (NOC). The party wants to hold the gathering on the night between August 13 and 14.

PTI has requested permission to use Minar-e-Pakistan as the main venue. It has also asked authorities to provide another suitable location if the preferred venue is not approved.

PTI Seeks Permission for August 13 Event

According to the application, the proposed gathering will take place on August 13. The event is planned to begin at 4:00pm.

The party has proposed continuing the gathering until 12:30am. This would allow the event to continue into Independence Day.

The application was submitted by PTI Lahore President Mian Akram Usman. Advocate Yousaf Wain submitted the request on the partyโ€™s behalf.

The development comes despite previous refusals to allow similar political gatherings. The latest application shows that the party is again seeking official approval.

Party Cites Constitutional Rights

PTI has based its request on constitutional rights. The party referred to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.

The party argues that these rights allow it to organize a public gathering. It has asked the district administration to consider its request under the Constitution.

Minar-e-Pakistan remains PTIโ€™s preferred venue for the event. The location is one of Lahoreโ€™s most prominent public spaces.

However, the party has also shown flexibility over the venue. It has requested an alternative location if authorities do not approve Minar-e-Pakistan.

Independence Day Plans

The proposed gathering would combine political activities with Independence Day celebrations. PTI plans to bring supporters together during the national holiday.

The requested timing would place the event across the night of August 13 and August 14. The party has therefore sought permission covering the full proposed schedule.

Authorities will decide whether to issue the required NOC. The decision could depend on security, law and order, and other administrative considerations.

The application does not itself confirm that the gathering will take place. PTI will need official approval before holding the event at the requested venue.

The PTI moves come as political parties prepare for Independence Day activities across the country. The partyโ€™s request has placed its proposed Lahore gathering before the district administration.

For now, the event remains subject to approval from the relevant authorities. The PTI moves are focused on securing permission and a suitable venue.
