Supporters of PTI staged a sit-in near Adiala Jail on Tuesday after party leaders and members of Imran Khan’s family were once again denied permission to meet the former prime minister.
According to party representatives, Imran Khan’s sisters and several PTI leaders arrived at Adiala Jail for a scheduled visit. However, they were stopped by jail authorities and were not allowed to meet him.
The Islamabad High Court had previously allowed family members to meet Imran Khan on Tuesdays. Party leaders were permitted to visit on Thursdays. Despite these orders, PTI leaders claim that the directives have not been fully implemented for several months.
Among those present were Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi. Several lawyers, party workers and senior leaders also accompanied them to the jail.
Speaking to journalists outside the prison, Aleema Khan criticized the continued restrictions on meetings. She said the country had remained politically unsettled during the past three years due to Imran Khan’s imprisonment.
Aleema also commented on the recent political situation in Gilgit-Baltistan. She said social media had allowed people to access information despite limited coverage on mainstream platforms.
According to her, the people of Gilgit-Baltistan expressed support for PTI during the elections. She claimed that political developments in the region had attracted national attention.
Aleema Khan further stated that Pakistan was facing several challenges and suggested that Imran Khan’s release could help address ongoing issues. She also called for greater public participation and urged supporters to remain active.
When asked about recent contacts between PTI Interim Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, she said those discussions had not produced any noticeable change.
Meanwhile, a separate legal matter involving PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja was also heard in the Islamabad High Court.
The case relates to a call-up notice issued by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) regarding the alleged misuse of social media platforms.
During the hearing, officials informed the court that a complaint had been received against Raja. However, the FIA report submitted to the court stated that no formal case had been registered against him.
Justice Raja Inam Ameen Minhas directed officials to carefully review the available reports before presenting arguments. The court later adjourned the proceedings to a later date.
