Punjab Government Announces Advance Salaries and Pensions Ahead of Eidul Fitr

LAHORE โ€“ The Punjab government has decided to release advance salaries and pensions before Eidul Fitr. The move aims to provide financial relief to civil servants and pensioners during the festive season.

The decision comes after regular salary and pension payments were already made earlier in March. However, authorities said early payments will help employees manage extra expenses linked to Eidul Fitr celebrations.

The Punjab Finance Department has issued an official notification in this regard. According to the notification, all Muslim government employees will receive their salaries on March 16, 2026.

Pensions will also be paid on the same date. This step ensures that retired government officials receive timely financial support before Eidul Fitr.

The notification states that the Governor of Punjab has approved the advance disbursement. The payments include pay, allowances, and pensions for March 2026. The approval has been granted under the relevant rules of the Punjab Financial Rules Volume-I.

Officials have been directed to take necessary steps to ensure payments are made on March 16 without delay. Authorities stressed that the process must be completed positively on the given date.

The early release of funds is expected to reduce financial pressure on government workers. Many families increase spending during Eidul Fitr for shopping, travel, and gatherings. The advance payments will allow them to prepare in a better way.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has shared an update about the moon sighting. According to the department, there is no chance of seeing the Shawwal moon on March 19, 2026, anywhere in Pakistan.

Based on this forecast, Eidul Fitr is likely to be observed across the country on March 21, 2026. The final announcement will be made by the relevant moon sighting authorities.
