Punjab May Start Impounding Vehicles of E-Challan Defaulters from July 1

Motorists across Punjab have been urged to clear their unpaid E-Challan fines as the Punjab Traffic Police prepares to launch strict enforcement measures from July 1. The move is aimed at improving compliance with traffic laws and promoting safer roads across the province.

The announcement was made by DIG Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir, who said the department will begin a province-wide crackdown against E-Challan defaulters under a zero-tolerance policy. Authorities say the operation will target those who have repeatedly ignored electronic traffic fines.

According to the Punjab Traffic Police, all traffic officials have now been equipped with the Traffic One application. The digital system allows officers to instantly check a vehicle’s E-Challan record and collect outstanding payments on the spot during routine traffic checks.

Officials said the new technology will make enforcement more efficient and reduce delays in verifying unpaid fines. Drivers found with pending challans may be asked to clear them immediately to avoid further action.

The traffic police have also advised citizens to regularly check their outstanding challans through the Punjab Safe Cities Authority’s official website. This will help drivers stay informed about any unpaid fines linked to their vehicles or motorcycles.

Authorities have warned that vehicles or motorcycles with unpaid traffic fines may be impounded if the dues remain unpaid. The enforcement campaign is expected to begin across all districts of Punjab from July 1.

DIG Traffic Muhammad Waqas Nazir urged citizens not to wait until enforcement begins. He encouraged motorists to clear all pending challans before the deadline to avoid legal complications and inconvenience.

The Punjab Traffic Police says the campaign is part of broader efforts to improve road discipline. Officials believe stricter enforcement will encourage responsible driving and reduce traffic violations across the province.

Traffic authorities also stressed that obeying road rules is essential for protecting lives and preventing accidents. They urged drivers to follow speed limits, respect traffic signals, and comply with all road safety regulations.

The department added that digital traffic management systems are being strengthened to improve transparency and ensure fair enforcement. The use of technology allows officers to verify records instantly while reducing the chances of errors.

With the July 1 deadline approaching, motorists are advised to review their E-Challan status and settle any outstanding payments as soon as possible. Clearing pending fines on time can help drivers avoid vehicle impoundment, legal action, and unnecessary delays during routine traffic inspections.
