Punjab Shifts Driving Licence Services to Dastak App for Easier Public Access

The Punjab Traffic Police has announced that all Driving licence services are now available through the Dastak Citizen App. The move is part of the governmentโ€™s efforts to digitize public services and make them more accessible for citizens across the province.

According to an official statement, the Driving Licence Issuance Management System (DLIMS) website has been integrated into the Dastak platform. Citizens seeking any Driving licence service can now use a single digital platform instead of visiting licensing centers in person.

Officials have advised users to download the Dastak Citizen App from the Google Play Store. Through the application, people can access various Driving licence services quickly and conveniently from their homes.

The initiative is part of the Punjab governmentโ€™s flagship โ€œMaryam Ki Dastakโ€ program. The project was launched in June 2024 by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB). Its purpose is to provide doorstep access to government services and reduce the need for repeated visits to public offices.

Authorities believe the digital shift will save time and improve service delivery. Citizens can now complete many Driving licence-related tasks through the app, making the process more efficient and user-friendly.

According to PITB data, the Dastak program has received around 1.2 million service requests since its launch. More than one million of these requests have already been successfully completed. Approximately 164,000 requests are still being processed.

To support the initiative, thousands of trained Dastak facilitators have been registered. These facilitators help ensure that services are delivered efficiently and on time. Officials say their role is important in maintaining smooth operations across Punjab.

The program is currently available in 40 districts of the province. It offers access to 76 government services. These include domicile certificates, birth certificates, copies of FIRs, property records, and registry documents, in addition to Driving licence services.

Citizens can use the Dastak Doorstep Delivery App or contact the dedicated helpline 1202 to request services. This system is designed to reduce paperwork and improve convenience for the public.
