The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab recently launched a series of intelligence-based operations across several cities in response to escalating concerns over potential terrorist threats. The coordinated effort resulted in the arrests of 23 individuals suspected of involvement in terrorist activities.

Explosives, hand grenades, weapons, and a significant amount of cash were seized during the operations, underscoring the severity of the threat posed by these individuals. The arrested terrorists were allegedly affiliated with prominent terrorist groups, including facilitators of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Lahore and Al-Qaeda in Faisalabad.

The raids were conducted in major urban centers such as Lahore, Gujranwala, Mianwali, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, Rajanpur, Sialkot, and Faisalabad. According to officials, the operation targeted key figures and networks believed to be actively planning attacks on various institutions.

“These individuals were actively planning to carry out attacks on critical installations,” the officials stated.

Throughout the week, the CTD conducted 962 combing operations, leading to the arrest of 133 suspects. More than 37,000 individuals were questioned as part of these intensive efforts to root out terrorism and ensure the safety and security of the populace.

The successful outcome of the CTD’s operation underscores the government’s commitment to combating terrorism and maintaining peace and stability in the region. However, it also serves as a stark reminder of the persistent threat posed by extremist elements, necessitating continued vigilance and proactive measures to safeguard against potential attacks.
