Lahore’s Air Quality Gets Worse; Authorities Seal Marriage Halls and Restaurants

Lahore is facing a severe air pollution crisis, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching hazardous levels.

On Thursday morning at 9 a.m., the city’s overall AQI hit a critical 790. Specific areas like the Ghazi Road Interchange recorded an alarming AQI of 1,280, followed by Maratib Ali Road at 1,107 and Gulberg at 1,039.

In response, the district administration has taken strict measures against businesses violating the 8 p.m. closure orders. Authorities have sealed 75 shops, a wedding hall, and 14 restaurants for disregarding the ban on outdoor dining.

The Deputy Commissioner urged residents to limit outdoor activities and remain indoors as much as possible.

He also reminded the public of the ongoing ban on outdoor activities, including outdoor dining, until November 17 due to the severe smog.
