Police Prevent Terrorist Attack at Mianwali Checkpoint

A group of 12 to 14 heavily armed terrorists launched an assault on the Quboolkhel checkpost in Mianwali district, targeting the Esakhel police. The attackers, equipped with rocket launchers and hand grenades, clashed with the police early in the morning.

The police, stationed at the checkpost, responded swiftly and forcefully, successfully repelling the attack. According to Mianwali District Police Officer Akhtar Farooq’s spokesperson, the terrorists retreated in the face of the police response. The Esakhel DSP and SHO were present at the checkpost with additional forces, and two policemen sustained minor injuries.

In the aftermath, a large-scale search operation was initiated to capture the fleeing terrorists, who are believed to have sustained significant casualties.

Punjab IGP Dr. Usman Anwar praised the police for their bravery and rapid response, noting that this incident marks the ninth such attack on Punjab police in recent months. He affirmed that the Punjab police remain a strong defense against terrorism at border checkposts.

Three killed in Accident

Tragedy occurred on the CPEC road when a car collided with a trailer, resulting in the car overturning and catching fire. Despite the rescue team’s prompt response, all three occupants of the car were pronounced dead at the scene.

The victims were traveling to Dera Ismail Khan when the accident happened. Their bodies were taken to THQ hospital, where they have not yet been identified.

Rescue officials are investigating the cause of the accident and working to ensure the safety of the area.
