A Punjab University student, Rana Ammar Akhter from Kasur, was fatally shot in a tragic incident, leading to a sit-in staged by a student organization outside the university. The protest caused traffic congestion on Canal Road, Barkat Market, and nearby areas.
The organization allegedly attacked the university’s admin block, vandalizing property, including flower pots and doors.

The injured student, reportedly from the sociology department, was rushed to Sheikh Zayed Hospital but succumbed to his injuries in the operation theatre. He had sustained three gunshot wounds to the chest, stomach, and leg.
Conflicting Claims
Punjab University’s spokesperson stated the incident occurred outside the university premises, accusing the student organization of spreading false information. In contrast, the hospital spokesperson confirmed the body was handed over to the police and would be sent for postmortem.
