ISLAMABAD: YouTuber Rajab Butt, along with TikToker Nadeem Mubarak (Naniwala), filed petitions at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday. They requested the court to remove their names from the passport control list, allowing them to travel abroad.
The hearing was conducted by Justice Muhammad Azam Khan. Barrister Raja Qadeer Janjua and Advocate Ahad Khokhar represented Rajab Butt and Nadeem Mubarak. Notices were issued to the Interior Secretary, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and other relevant authorities. The Director General of Passports and Immigration also received a notice.
Rajab Butt’s petition states that he is currently restricted from traveling abroad due to pending cybercrime and other cases. The petitioners urged the court to direct authorities to lift the travel restrictions imposed on them.
The IHC asked the respondents, including the FIA and Interior Ministry officials, to submit their responses regarding the matter. Afterward, the court adjourned the hearing until next week.
Earlier this week, both Rajab Butt and Nadeem Mubarak had approached the IHC seeking permission to travel internationally. The restrictions on their passports have been in place since allegations surfaced in cybercrime cases against them.
Rajab Butt has gained prominence as a social media influencer and YouTuber. His petition highlights his right to travel and questions the continued restrictions despite ongoing legal proceedings. Authorities are expected to provide a detailed response on the travel ban during the next hearing.
