Rana Sanaullah Reports CJP Qazi Faez Isa Denied Extension

Advisor to the Prime Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination, Rana Sanaullah, announced on Monday that Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa has declined any extension to his service tenure. Sanaullah stated that without the necessary parliamentary numbers, neither an extension for the Chief Justice nor a constitutional amendment could be accomplished.

Justice Isa has firmly rejected the idea of extending his term and has conveyed this decision to the Law Minister and Attorney General. He indicated that a general age limit extension for all could be acceptable, but not a specific extension for himself.

On the political front, Rana Sanaullah clarified that their party is not aligned with Maulana Fazlur Rehman but maintains cooperation with him. He also addressed accusations against Lt. General (retired) Faiz Hameed regarding his involvement in appointing the Army Chief and using PTI for personal gains, suggesting that if these allegations are true, the PTI founder might also be implicated.

Responding to inquiries, Sanaullah stated that former COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa never requested an extension in their presence, and Shehbaz Sharif had not indicated any such request. He also dismissed rumors of a meeting between former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Qamar Javed Bajwa’s father-in-law, Ijaz Amjad, in London.
