The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has issued show-cause notices to two private housing schemes.
The notices were issued to the owners of Taj Residencia and Saffron City. The authority cited alleged violations of approved plans and housing scheme regulations.
The action is part of the RDA’s ongoing enforcement drive against unauthorized housing schemes. The authority is also targeting illegal extensions within its jurisdiction.
According to an RDA spokesperson, Taj Residencia received a notice over alleged plot promotion and bookings. The plots are located in the Lotus, Cosmos and Blue Bell blocks.
The authority said these blocks are not included in the approved layout plan. The alleged extension involves areas in Mouza Kak and Sikihpur in Rawalpindi.
The RDA has directed the owner of Taj Residencia to stop the alleged violations. The owner has also been asked to restore the scheme according to its approved layout plan.
The authority has given the owner seven days to submit a response. Failure to comply may lead to further legal action under relevant laws.
The approved area for Taj Residencia is 2,424 kanals, according to the authority.
The RDA also issued a show-cause notice to the management of Saffron City. The notice concerns alleged advertising, marketing and booking of plots.
According to the authority, the required NOC or sanction was not obtained for these activities. The approved area of Saffron City is 882.85 kanals.
The latest action reflects the authority’s focus on regulating private housing developments. It also aims to prevent unauthorized extensions and property marketing.
The RDA has contacted several government and public bodies regarding alleged illegal advertisements. These include NAB Rawalpindi, IESCO, SNGPL and PTCL.
The District Collector and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have also been contacted. The correspondence relates to alleged advertisements for private housing schemes on social media.
The RDA spokesperson said some developers were making claims about regulatory approvals. Some owners allegedly claimed their housing schemes had obtained RDA NOCs.
The authority has advised citizens to verify approval details before making property investments. Buyers have been asked to check the status of housing schemes through the official RDA website.
Citizens are also advised to confirm whether a housing scheme’s layout plan is approved. They should also verify whether the advertised blocks are part of the approved plan.
The latest notices highlight the importance of regulatory approval in private housing developments. The RDA continues to monitor schemes operating within its jurisdiction.
