August 14: Aerial Firing in Karachi Injures 70 People

Around 70 people were injured by Aerial Firing in various parts of Karachi during August 14 celebrations on Tuesday night, rescue sources informed from News.

Revelers fired into the air at midnight to mark Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day.

Injured individuals were brought in from areas including Mauripur Road, PIB Colony, Old Golimar, Korangi, Jamshed Quarters, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Lyari, and Malir, according to the sources.

The incidents occurred in locations such as Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Nazimabad, Sharifabad, Lyari, Pak Colony, Akhtar Colony, and Old Golimar, with additional incidents reported in Korangi Industrial Area, Landhi, Mahmoodabad, Shahrah-e-Noorjahan, and Hydari.

Among the injured were women and children, though no fatalities were reported.

The nation is observing the 77th Independence Day with renewed commitment to the ideals of the Pakistan Movement, aiming to establish the country as a true Islamic welfare state.

On this occasion, both children and adults have decorated buildings and homes with colorful lights and national flags, transforming the appearance of the city, particularly along major highways in Karachi.

Last year, two people died and more than 80 were injured by aerial firing in different areas of Karachi during Independence Day celebrations.

Similar incidents took place last year in areas such as Lyari, Garden, Landhi, Korangi, Mehmoodabad, New Karachi, Bilal Colony, and Garden, resulting in over 80 injuries.
