Third Earthquake in Two Days Jolts Kohlu

Residents of Kohlu in Balochistan experienced another Earthquake on Saturday, marking the third tremor to strike the region within the past two days. The repeated seismic activity has raised concerns among local communities, although no casualties or major damage were reported from the latest event.

According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) in Quetta, the latest Earthquake measured 4.3 on the Richter scale. Its epicentre was located around 40 kilometres north of Kohlu at a depth of 15 kilometres.

Officials said the quake was relatively shallow compared to previous tremors recorded in the area. Despite the noticeable shaking, authorities confirmed that no immediate reports of injuries or structural damage had been received.

The latest Earthquake follows two tremors that struck the region a day earlier. Those earlier shocks left many residents anxious as fears of additional aftershocks continued.

The strongest quake recorded during the recent seismic activity measured 5.1 on the Richter scale. It caused damage in several areas and resulted in injuries to local residents.

According to Musa Khel Deputy Commissioner Abdul Razaq Khajak, at least three people, including a child, were injured during separate wall collapse incidents in the Kingri area.

The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital, where they received medical treatment. Officials said approximately 70 houses also suffered partial damage due to the stronger tremor.

The NSMC reported that the 5.1-magnitude quake had its epicentre around 60 kilometres northeast of Kohlu at a depth of 17 kilometres.

Tremors from the stronger earthquake were felt across several nearby districts, including Zhob, Barkhan, and Rakhni, causing panic among residents.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) later confirmed that three earthquakes had struck the area within a single day.

According to the PMD, the first tremor was recorded at 10:25 a.m., followed by a second at 10:58 a.m. A third earthquake was felt later in the afternoon at 4:49 p.m.

Residents reported rushing out of homes and buildings as the repeated tremors continued throughout the day. Many people remained outdoors for some time due to fears of further seismic activity.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged residents to remain calm while following official safety guidelines in case of additional aftershocks.

Emergency officials continue to assess the affected areas for any delayed reports of damage. Disaster management teams remain on alert as seismic monitoring continues.
