Traffic Disrupted as Motorway Closes Due to Smog and Collisions

Dense smog continues to disrupt travel across Punjab, leading to the closure of major motorways and hazardous driving conditions.

To ensure public safety, the Motorway Police have shut down several routes, including Motorway M2 from Lahore to Sheikhupura, M3 from Lahore to Jaranwala, and M4 from Gojra to Abdul Hakeem.

Authorities have advised travelers to avoid night travel and opt for daylight hours when visibility is better. Drivers are also encouraged to use fog lights for added safety.

On Friday morning, thick fog and smog caused multiple accidents near the Hiran Minar Interchange in Sheikhupura, resulting in five injuries.

The reduced visibility led to collisions involving several vehicles. Rescue 1122 and the Motorway Police are on-site conducting operations, and traffic remains halted on the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway near the interchange. The road will reopen once the rescue efforts are completed.
