Traffic Plan Announced for Islamabad, Rawalpindi During Protest and Cricket Match

A traffic advisory has been issued for Islamabad and Rawalpindi due to a planned protest and a scheduled cricket match. The Islamabad police have closed key routes to ensure public safety and manage traffic flow, with containers placed at Express Chowk, NADRA Chowk, and near the Marriot Hotel to obstruct traffic.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced a public gathering at Tarnol Chowk, which may lead to further road closures, despite the cancellation of the event’s NOC. Containers have already been observed along routes at 26 Number and Taxila, indicating potential traffic disruptions.

Additionally, a high-profile court hearing is scheduled for tomorrow in the Supreme Court, with rallies expected to converge in the Red Zone area, complicating traffic conditions further. The Metro Bus service will be suspended between Saddar and Pak Secretariat stations, adding to the expected congestion.

Roads will remain open, but temporary blockages due to cricket team movements are expected until September 3rd, 2024. Commuters are advised to plan their journeys carefully to avoid delays and inconveniences.
