Woman from Karachi Funds Umrah with Stolen Gold

A woman from Karachi’s Lyari, identified as Shehnaz, has been arrested for allegedly stealing 20 tola of gold from a neighbor’s home and using part of the proceeds to fund an Umrah pilgrimage. The case was registered by the Baghdadi Police on October 27, after which Shehnaz’s husband, Imran, was detained and revealed her involvement in the crime.

Police recovered three tola of gold jewellery and Rs1.5 million in cash from Shehnaz following her arrest. It was reported that she sold 17 tola of the stolen gold and used the money to travel for Umrah.

Authorities are continuing their investigation, conducting raids to recover more stolen items and to determine if any accomplices were involved. The Baghdadi Police are working to secure a full recovery of the remaining stolen jewellery.
