Wasim Akram Encourages Abdullah Shafique to Work in Pakistani Dramas

Pakistan’s legendary fast bowler, Wasim Akram, has criticized Test opener Abdullah Shafique for his celebration following a catch during a PSL match between Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Abdullah Shafique’s gesture, indicating silencing his critics after catching Imad Wasim in the slips, sparked controversy. It referenced criticism he faced for dropping catches during the Australian Test series.

In a talk show, Wasim Akram strongly condemned Shafique’s celebration, suggesting he should leave cricket for dramas if he wants to silence critics. Akram highlighted Shafique’s dropped catches in Australia and emphasized the need for improvement rather than silencing critics.

The catch, taken during the powerplay off David Weise’s over, aided Lahore Qalandars in reducing Islamabad United to 36-5. Despite the catch, Islamabad United lost the match by 17 runs, falling to 4th place in the PSL standings.
