Ahsan Ramzan, the World and Asian Under-21 snooker champion, was reportedly detained by the Punjab police. In a video message, Ahsan claimed that the police conducted a late-night raid on the snooker academy where he was training and took him to the police station. He has demanded a thorough investigation from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Inspector General of Police Usman Anwar.
According to Ahsan’s account in the video statement, he was practicing with other players at a snooker academy in the Township area for upcoming events when officers from the Green Town Police Station raided the club for operating beyond permitted hours. Despite Ahsan introducing himself and refusing to close the club, the police allegedly took him to the station, disregarding his pleas.

During his detention, the police confiscated his mobile phone and belt, and he was only released when his close friend arrived at the police station. Ahsan, who recently won the titles of World and Asian Champion, was visibly emotional while recounting the incident.
In the video, Ahsan shared that he informed the policemen about his world champion status, to which they responded dismissively, saying, “You have done that for yourself.” He expressed his dismay, feeling humiliated in his own country despite his efforts to bring pride and recognition to Pakistan through his accomplishments in snooker. He also remarked on the apparent neglect and indifference towards snooker, considering it as an “orphan” among sports in the country.
